Limitless data export and migration guide

Why export now

Limitless committed to supporting existing Pendant customers throughout 2026, and to nothing beyond that. The company also confirmed that you can export or delete your data at any time. A working export is the only protection you control. It takes minutes to request and it does not depend on any future decision by Limitless or Meta.

Step by step: the full export

1. Open the Limitless web or desktop app. Go to app.limitless.ai and sign in. The Omi and Hedy guides both use the web app for this.
2. Go to Data Exports. It is in the left panel. Omi's help center gives the direct address as app.limitless.ai/data-exports.
3. Decide whether to include audio. Hedy's guide notes that you can check "Include audio files". If you want a text-only export, Omi says to export as text-only with no audio. Audio makes the file much larger.
4. Request the export. You receive an email when it is ready. Hedy says this can take 30 to 90 minutes for frequent users, and longer for large exports with Pendant audio.
5. Download the ZIP file and keep two copies. One on your computer and one somewhere else. A single copy is not a backup.

Exporting a single meeting

Hedy's guide describes copying individual items: open the meeting, choose the Transcript, Notes or Summary tab, and use the Copy button on the right. It notes that the desktop and web app cannot copy several sections at once. This is useful for a handful of important entries when you do not want the whole archive.

Exporting Pendant lifelogs from the phone

Hedy's guide also describes an iOS path for Pendant recordings: open the Lifelog view, tick the sections you want, tap the three dots, and choose Download audio. To copy transcripts, tap the copy icon and pick a format. It also says the Pendant stores recordings locally and syncs over Bluetooth, so sync before you export.

What is in the export

According to Hedy's guide, the bulk export includes meeting recordings, Pendant lifelog audio, transcripts and summaries. Audio files are in Ogg Opus format. Pendant recordings are split into smaller chunks organized by day, while meeting recordings from the desktop app are usually single files. Omi's help center says a Limitless export contains a LifeLog folder with the text, and separate Audio and Meetings folders when audio is included.

The developer API, for bulk or repeat exports

Limitless offers a developer API with an API key. You create the key in the Developer settings of the desktop or web app after pairing your Pendant. Its documented endpoints include listing and searching lifelogs, getting a single lifelog, downloading audio, and listing chats. Rate limits are 180 requests per minute per API key. The audio endpoint returns Ogg Opus files and is capped at two hours of audio per request. The developer page also describes an MCP server that lets tools such as Claude search your lifelogs. The page notes that while the API is in beta it supports only Pendant data.

Treat the key like a password. Limitless's own page says never to share it or commit it to a repository. The developer page says the delete endpoints permanently remove data, so do not run them until your export is safely stored.

If your Pendant still works after you export

Omi's help center documents how to pair a Limitless Pendant with the Omi app: forget the Pendant in your phone's Bluetooth settings, factory reset it so it shows a solid blue light, then connect inside Omi. It lists known limits: the Omi app must stay open, data import is text-only, and the Pendant streams audio live rather than syncing offline. If you go this route, read Omi's whole FAQ first, because a factory reset is not reversible. We have not tested it.

Deleting your account afterward

Limitless's help center gives the steps: open the web or desktop app, go to the Account tab, choose Settings, then Delete Account, type your email to confirm, and select Delete Account Permanently. A short checklist

• Request the export now, text-only if you only need transcripts, with audio if you want the recordings.
• Download the ZIP, then open it and check that the LifeLog folder has files for the dates you care about.
• Store two copies, one off your main computer.
• Decide whether you want to import into another tool. If you do, do a small test first.
• Only then decide whether to delete your account.
