Can I still buy a Limitless Pendant?

Not new. Limitless says on its site that it stopped selling the Pendant on December 5, 2025, after Meta acquired the company. Second-hand units exist, but the company committed to support existing Pendant customers only throughout 2026.

What is the closest Limitless alternative in 2026?

There is no clone. For an always-on pendant, Omi and Legend One are the closest in behavior. For a press-to-record device, Plaud, Pocket, SwitchBot and soundcore all list current products. Bee is the lowest-priced option in the US, on iOS only.

Did Limitless go out of business?

No. Meta acquired it, according to Reuters and TechCrunch, and Limitless said it would keep supporting existing Pendant customers throughout 2026. The Pendant product line ended for new buyers.

How do I export my Limitless data?

Open the Limitless web or desktop app, go to Data Exports and request an export, choosing whether to include audio. The full walk-through, with sources, is in our export and migration guide.

Is Friend a Limitless replacement?

No. Friend is a companion device that talks back. It is not built for notes or memory capture.

How long will Limitless support the Pendant?

Limitless said it would support existing Pendant customers throughout 2026. It has not said what happens after that.

Do I still have to pay for Limitless?

Continuing customers do not. The company made the Unlimited plan free for existing customers.

What happened to Rewind?

The Rewind app was sunset. The company said its latest update disabled all screen and audio capture starting December 19, 2025.

What if I was in the EU or UK?

Limitless said service ended in the European Union, United Kingdom, Brazil, China, Israel, South Korea and Turkey on December 5, 2025, and that accounts there would be permanently deleted after December 19, 2025.

Can I use my Limitless Pendant with another app?

Omi's help center documents pairing a Limitless Pendant with the Omi app after a factory reset. It lists limits, including that Omi must stay open and that imports are text-only. We have not tested it.

Can I import Limitless transcripts into another tool?

Should I buy a used Limitless Pendant?

We would not for a new setup. The company committed to support only through 2026, and we cannot source reliable used prices.

Will Meta release a pendant?

Nothing we found says so. TechCrunch noted that the acquisition more likely means support for Meta's existing products, and Meta's statement mentioned AI-enabled wearables in general.

Is it legal to wear a recording wearable?

Wearing is legal. Recording others is regulated: federal law requires one party's consent and about eleven states generally require all parties to consent. See the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. This is not legal advice.

Questions that need more than a line

Is it safe to keep using my Pendant?

The company committed to support existing customers throughout 2026 and required them to accept updated privacy terms. Whether that is acceptable depends on how you feel about Meta owning the service. Some people are comfortable and some are not. The export guide shows how to take your data with you either way, and Limitless says you can delete your account at any time.

Why do I keep seeing Limitless in "best of" lists?

Roundups written before December 5, 2025 still rank the Pendant, and search engines keep serving them. Check the date on any list. If it predates the acquisition, its top pick is no longer for sale.

Is there a Limitless successor?

Not from Limitless or Meta that we could find. The nearest experiences come from other makers, and none matches the Pendant exactly. The what to buy page explains what each gives up and gains.

Do I need to do anything if I live in one of the shutdown regions?

The company said that service in Brazil, China, the European Union, Israel, South Korea, Turkey and the United Kingdom ended on December 5, 2025, that users there had until December 19, 2025 to download their information, and that accounts and data would then be permanently deleted. If that date has passed and you did not export, we know of no documented way to recover the data. Contact Limitless support through its Help Center to ask, and do not assume anything beyond what the company has published.

What should I look for in a replacement so this does not happen again?

Three things: a working export, a stated policy on what happens if the company is sold, and some use for the hardware if the service changes. Omi being open source and able to run locally is an example of the third. No design is immune, so the export habit matters more than any single feature.

Owner checklist

  • Export your data now. The steps are in the export guide.
  • Keep two copies of the ZIP, one off your main computer.
  • Decide on a successor before the end of 2026.
  • Delete your account only after checking the export opens.

Shopper checklist

  • Pick the job first: always-on, press-to-record or lowest price.
  • Check what the device stores and what happens if the maker is sold.
  • Try an export in the first month, whatever you buy.
  • Use the return window.
